In this talk, two of the police officers who worked on the case, will give a brief overview of the investigation, with a particular focus on the interrogation of Breivik. They will describe how Norwegian law enforcement practice has developed during the last 15 years, the state of Norwegian society at the time of the attack, and the societal values underlying the legal system. They will describe how these values, in particular openness and the presumption of innocence, were reflected in the interrogations of Breivik. They will also provide an overview of the phases of communication described in the Norwegian model of interrogation entitled KREATIV. This model draws on the framework of investigative interviewing, which is based on scientifically supported principles.
