Event Description:

EXPOSED: THE ART OF THE WATCHDOG on Criminal Justice Matters

What do Nazi war criminals and New York City parking meters have in common? They each featured in a major government scandal---and each in turn was exposed by individuals determined to correct abuses of taxpayer money or of our trust in democracy. We call them “watchdogs” because they stand guard over our democratic institutions. But what makes a watchdog bark?

In the next episode of Criminal Justice Matters, two of the nation’s leading good-government crusaders provide an inside glimpse of what they do—and why: Dan Feldman, a former New York State Assemblyman, and co-author of a new book called ‘The Art of the Watchdog;” and Phil Zisman, executive director of the Association of Inspectors General. Both teach at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where they are training a new generation to follow in their footsteps.
