Event Description:
Leadership Series Workshop

Leading in a Safe Zone Space
The Safe Zone Ally initiative is a campus wide program designed to visibly identify individuals who support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people and are willing to act as allies by learning more about the issues facing LGBT communities. As a leader, often times one is faced with interacting with individuals who are different from us, however it is imperative to ones growth to understand, recognize and respect those differences. Participants who have completed the training receive a certificate, stickers/buttons and become Allies. By wearing and displaying the Safe Zone symbol, as a leader, you send the message that you are understanding, supportive and recognized as a trustworthy Ally if a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender person needs help, advice or just someone with whom s/he can talk to.
