RE: Email Security
Please note that many times you receive
emails requesting donations and soliciting products. They appear genuine
coming from reliable sources. These messages contain either embedded HTML
text or URLs that will take you to a website when you click them. While at
the site, you may be asked to insert your personal information. The Department
of Information Technology filters such messages through Proofpoint spam filtering
system, however few of these messages “sneak” in. It is always
better to type in the URL in the web browser if you choose to visit the website
mentioned in the emails. We highly recommend that you delete such emails
immediately to protect your privacy and security of Colleges systems. For
further information on computer security please visit http://johnjay.jjay.cuny.edu/doit/security.asp.
You can also download a PDF document on computer and network security from
this site.
Thank you for your cooperation
