This course will examine crime in the Caribbean with a particular focus on the differences and similarities among the Spanish-, English-, French-, and Dutch-speaking nations of the Caribbean region. The course will study the trends in crime in the Caribbean from a comparative perspective, and the methods employed by various individual nations to help diminish crime and delinquency. The specific topics to be studied include political crime and offenses; political corruption, drug dealing and trafficking, juvenile delinquency, domestic violence, and sexual assault in the Caribbean.
