Examines selected recent and current research on
eyewitness performance including research on the effects of witness and crime
characteristics. Particular emphasis is
given to the impact on witness errors of police identification procedures such
as methods of foil selection, mug shots, show-ups, photo arrays and lineups,
and alternative methods for presenting lineups to witnesses. Attention is also given to the strengths and
weaknesses of alternative eyewitness research methods including laboratory and
field experiments and archival studies.
