New York, NY, August 22, 2011 — Founded as a college to educate police officers in the sciences and liberal arts, John Jay College of Criminal Justice has been transformed, under the leadership of President Jeremy Travis, into the preeminent international leader in educating for justice. To secure recognition of this transformation and provide a platform for its ongoing communications programs, the college introduced a striking new identity program today that was unveiled at their orientation program for new students this week.

"As fierce advocates for justice, we are dedicated to providing a new vision of education in justice that imbues our students with the skills, insights and passion to become positive agents of change." According to President Travis, "The new identity system we are introducing today dramatizes the breadth and diversity of this exciting college and provides the platform for securing recognition for the important role we will play throughout the world."

The cornerstone of this new identity is a logo in a modern, bold typeface with the descriptor, College of Criminal Justice, as part of the signature. The comprehensive identity system includes a corporate type style, dynamic color palette, formats for the full range of print and digital communications and guidelines for creating communications to reinforce a distinctive, compelling voice for the college.

Alan Siegel, the Founder and Chairman of Siegel+Gale and a trustee of the John Jay College Foundation Board, led the development of this program. "John Jay is an extraordinary educational institution with an incredibly diverse student body who are passionate about effecting positive change, a remarkable faculty conducting groundbreaking research covering all areas of justice, and an enriched learning experience," Mr. Siegel noted. "To achieve its ambitious 5-year master plan that will reinforce their leadership in educating for justice throughout the world, they needed to tell their story in a more convincing, elegant manner and build a distinctive communications program that reflects their leadership position."
