This fall John Jay College of Criminal Justice joins CUNY’s path breaking William E. Macaulay Honors College. The College is currently accepting Macaulay Honors applications and will welcome its inaugural Macaulay class in 2013. Macaulay students at John Jay will benefit from extraordinary educational experiences and unparalleled opportunities beyond the classroom.

Set in a state of the art new building in the center of Manhattan, John Jay College offers a first class, rigorous liberal arts education distinguished by an innovative curriculum across the disciplines. From Forensic Science to English to Economics, John Jay’s award-winning faculty work closely with students to help them pursue their educational goals and prepare for their futures.

The campus’ 60,000-square foot roof top, known as the “Jay Walk,” features lawn space, trees and benches. Additional signature spaces include the Emergency Management and High Rise Simulator labs, a moot court, exhibit spaces, and a black box theater. The new science labs provide opportunities for students to move deeper into high impact research areas, including biochemistry, environmental science, forensic science, molecular biology, and toxicology. “With John Jay’s new building and expanded liberal arts offerings, it is an exciting time for Macaulay students to join the College,” said President Travis.

Prospective Macaulay Honors College students at John Jay will be chosen from a highly competitive field of applicants who demonstrate exceptional academic skills. They will be rewarded for their hard work and achievements with a complete package of financial benefits, including:

Macaulay's academic program begins with four interdisciplinary seminars in the freshman and sophomore years and extends to upper-level courses. These interdisciplinary seminars focus on special aspects of New York City and combine rich experiential learning opportunities with traditional academic studies. The seminars include "The Arts in New York City," "The Peopling of New York," "Science and Technology in New York City," and "New York in the 21st Century." Dynamic faculty mentoring, spirited intellectual community and individual academic advisement are hallmarks of the Macaulay experience at John Jay.

About Macaulay Honors College: Founded in 2001 by Chancellor Matthew Goldstein, Macaulay Honors College students enroll in one of eight CUNY senior colleges (Baruch, Brooklyn, City, Hunter, John Jay, Lehman, Queens, or Staten Island) and earn a degree conferred jointly by their home campus and Macaulay.
