Baseball Coach Named to NCAA Post

Dan Palumbo, John Jay’s Head Baseball Coach, has been named to the NCAA Division III Baseball Committee, the eight-member national governing body that oversees regional rankings and selections for post-season championship competition.

The appointment of Palumbo, who will also serve as chair of the New York regional committee, runs through September 1, 2014.

Palumbo began coaching the John Jay baseball team just prior to the 2002 season, and has led the program to two City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) championships, in 2002 and 2007. He served as head coach of a CUNYAC All-Star baseball team during a goodwill tour of Italy in 2007.
Under Palumbo’s leadership, members of the John Jay baseball program have been recognized for their community service efforts by government officials at the city, state and federal levels, as well as by civic and nonprofit organizations.

In addition to his coaching duties, Palumbo serves as Special Assistant to the Interim Vice President for Student Affairs.
