Professor Deborah Koetzle Quoted in Associated Press Article on Anti-Recidivism Court Initiative

Deborah Koetzle, Associate Professor in the Department of Public Management, was quoted in an Associated Press article title “DeKalb Court Program Seeks to Reduce Recidivism.”  The article highlights an Atlanta, GA program that is working to keep young, nonviolent, offenders out of jail.

Professor Koetzle earned her doctorate in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati.  Before joining John Jay this fall, she was an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her research interests center on effective interventions for offenders, problem-solving courts, and the use of social media by police departments. She has served as a consultant to local, state and federal agencies on the topic of assessment, treatment and quality assurance within both institutional and community-based programs
and is currently working with the National Association of Drug Court Professionals to develop empirically based standards for adult drug courts.
