Distinguished Professor John Matteson Interviewed on WNYC’s Leonard Lopate Show About His Book The Lives of Margaret Fuller

John Matteson, Distinguished Professor of English, was interviewed about the paperback release of his book The Lives of Margaret Fuller: A Biography on the WNYC’s Leonard Lopate Show.

Published in 2012, The Lives of Margaret Fuller, examines the life of writer and social critic Margaret Fuller who as the leading female figure in the transcendentalist movement, wrote a celebrated column of literary and social commentary, served as the first foreign correspondent for an American newspaper, and she authored the first great work of American feminism, Woman in the Nineteenth Century.  In 2008, Professor Matteson won the Pulitzer Prize in Biography for his earlier work Eden's Outcasts: The Story of Louisa May Alcott and Her Father.
