John Jay’s Distinguished Professor of History’s Lecture Featured on C-Span

Distinguished Professor of History and Women’s Studies Blanche Wiesen Cook’s recent talk on “Eleanor Roosevelt and Human Rights” at Adelphi University has been featured on C-Span. Professor Cook delivered her lecture on the timely crucial importance of Eleanor Roosevelt and her life’s devotion to peace and to universal human rights.

Blanche Wiesen Cook has been honored with the 2010 Publishing Triangle’s Bill Whitehead Award for Lifetime Achievement. The New York State Council on the Humanities honored her as Scholar of the Year in 1996.

A prominent historian and activist, Professor Cook’s book, Eleanor Roosevelt: Volume Two, (Viking Penguin, 1999) was widely popular as was Volume One, published in 1992, received numerous awards, including the 1992 Biography Prize from The Los Angeles Times, and the Lambda Literary Award. She is currently working on the third and final volume of Eleanor Roosevelt.

She is a frequent contributor of reviews and columns in many newspapers and periodicals. Her book The Declassified Eisenhower was listed by The New York Times Book Review as one of the notable books of 1981.
