The graduate program in International Crime and Justice burnished its summer 2013 course offerings with the addition of Dr. Alexis A. Aronowitz as a visiting adjunct professor for a five-week course on human trafficking.
Aronowitz, who is currently Senior Lecturer in Criminology at University College Utrecht in the Netherlands, has served since 2000 as a staff member and consultant on human trafficking projects for the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute, the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and other international organizations. She recently conducted fieldwork on human trafficking in Nepal.
The graduate course, ICJ810, takes an interdisciplinary approach in exploring the causes, manifestations and control of the international human-trafficking phenomenon.
Aronowitz is the author of Human Trafficking, Human Misery: The Global Trade in Human Beings (Praeger, 2009).
