John Jay’s Prison-to-College Pipeline featured in NY Business Journal

John Jay College’s Prison-to-College Pipeline program was featured in New York Business Journal in an article by Gary M. Stern entitled “John Jay College tries to help prisoners turn lives around” on October 1, 2013. The program aims to help inmates earn credits towards their college degree to facilitate their employment and reentry into society.

Baz Dreisinger, associate professor of English, serves as academic director of Prison-to-College Pipeline. “We wanted to bring college to prisons and bring prison to college. This gives John Jay students an opportunity to encounter the prison population in a humanizing way that changes their whole conception of the prison system,” she said.
