Professor Glenn Corbett Tapped to Head Philadelphia Advisory Commission

The professional reputation of John Jay Professor Glenn Corbett has caught the attention of Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter, who has appointed Corbett to chair a Special Independent Advisory Commission to review and evaluate the city’s Department of Licenses and Inspections.

Professor Corbett, a member of the Department of Security, Fire and Emergency Management, is a nationally recognized expert in the fields of fire protection and fire engineering, and a member of the State of New Jersey Fire Code Advisory Council. The 13-member advisory commission will evaluate the Philadelphia department’s operations, organizational structure, staffing, budget and use of technology, among other considerations, and will review the department’s role in and response to the June 5, 2013, building collapse in Philadelphia in which six people were killed and 14 others injured.
