Professor Jodie Roure Quoted in NY Times Article About the NYC Screening of “Por Amor en el Caserio” at John Jay

Associate Professor Jodie Roure is quoted in a New York Times article titled “Film on Love and Gang War in Puerto Rico Is Coming to New York” about the New York City debut of “Por Amor en el Caserio.” Recently released in Puerto Rico, “Por Amor” depicts life in a crime-ridden public housing complex in San Juan and centers on the budding romance between two young residents of the caserio, Crystal and Angelo.

The November 11th screening at John Jay will be followed by a panel discussion with Antonio Morales, the screenwriter, and members of the cast. Professor Roure and her colleagues in the Latin American and Latina/o Studies Department have invited officials from the New York City Housing Authority as well as law enforcement agencies to attend the screening.
