Professor Luis Barrios and John Jay Student Discuss Immigration and Deportation on NY1’s Pura Politica

Professor Luis Barrios of the Department of Latin American and Latina/o Studies, John Jay adjunct lecturer and doctoral student Shirley Leyro, and undergraduate student and “dreamer” Danyeli Rodriguez were interviewed about immigration reform by Juan Benitez on NY1 Notcias “Pura Politica.” They discussed the status of the DREAM ACT and potential reforms that the City and State could initiate including issuing driver’s licenses and offering in-state tuition for undocumented college students. Benitez referenced John Jay’s semester-long Immigration and Deportation Initiative that has explored these issues.
