President Travis Quoted in The New York Times article on Departing Police Commissioner Kelly

President Jeremy Travis was quoted in a recent New York Times article titled, “Kelly, Flinching a Bit, Looks Back with Head High,” by Michael Powell and William K. Rashbaum. The article offers pertinent insight about Commissioner Kelly’s tenure as head of the New York City Police Department.

The Times writes, “He has a record of exemplary leadership unmatched in the history of the department,” noted Jeremy Travis, president of John Jay College of Criminal Justice and long ago a counsel to the Police Department. “But the ramping up of stop-and-frisk drove a wedge between the department and young black and Hispanic men.”
