Professor Samantha Majic Named to Political Science Journal’s Editorial Board

Assistant Professor Samantha Majic of the Department of Political Science has been appointed to the editorial board of Perspectives on Politics, one of three peer-reviewed journals published by the American Political Science Association.

Professor Majic’s research focuses on gender and American politics, with specific interests in sex work, civic engagement, institutionalism and the nonprofit sector. Her book, Sex Work Politics: From Protest to Service Provision, was published in fall 2013 by the University of Pennsylvania Press. Her co-edited volume, Negotiating Sex Work: Unintended Consequences of Policy and Activism,is scheduled to be published by the University of Minnesota Press this spring.

She joins three of her departmental colleagues who are currently serving on editorial boards. Professor Jack Jacobs serves on the editorial boards of two international scholarly journals, East European Jewish Affairs, published in the United Kingdom, and Transversal, published in Austria. Associate Professor Monica Varsanyi serves on the editorial board of Annals of the Association of American Geographers, the leading scholarly journal in the discipline.Professor George Andreopoulos, Director of John Jay’s Center for International Human Rights, serves as the Current Issues and Controversies Section Editor of Human Rights Review, serves on the editorial board of Legal Hermeneutics, and is the editor of Springer’s Book Series on International Justice and Human Rights. All three are members of the doctoral faculty at the CUNY Graduate Center.
