Professor David Kennedy Examines the Reasons for Nationwide Homicide Decline, in a Column for The Huffington Post

Professor David M. Kennedy, Director of John Jay College’s Center on Crime Prevention and Control, published a guest commentary in The Huffington Post on January 21, “The Story Behind the Nation’s Falling Body County,” in which he explores reasons for declines in the homicide rates in many major cities.

America is on track for its lowest murder rate in nearly 40 years, Professor Kennedy observes, but news media analyses are missing an important aspect of the story: That there is “a method to the growing lack of madness in America's cities.”

Professor Kennedy is the author of Don't Shoot: One Man, A Street Fellowship, and the End of Violence in Inner-City America. Click here to read The Huffington Post article.
