NYS Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to Push for Expanded Legal Remedies for Exonerees

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, speaking at a program on “Life After Exoneration” sponsored by John Jay College’s Prisoner Reentry Institute, said he would propose legislation to make it easier for those who are wrongfully convicted of a crime, imprisoned and subsequently exonerated to pursue claims for damages against the state. Removing legal barriers to such claims, Schneiderman said, would help exonerees to “put their lives back together.”
