The New York Times recently published an article titled “In-Depth Report Details Economics of Sex Trade” about a new study on the underground commercial sex economy in U.S. cities. Meredith Dank, senior research associate at the Urban Institute’s Justice Policy Center and graduate of the John Jay/CUNY Graduate Center doctoral program in criminal justice, served as the lead author of the report. Professor Bilal Khan of John Jay’s Department of Mathematics & Computer Science was also a co-author.
According to The New York Times, “the report, commissioned by the Justice Department, is intended to address what researchers describe as wide gaps in the understanding of how the underground sex trade works, especially in the Internet age.”
