Professor Jessica Gordon Nembhard Discussed Co-ops and Civil Rights in Colorlines Article

Jessica Gordon Nembhard, a political economist and associate professor in the Department of Africana Studies, is featured in a Colorlines.com article about the history of cooperative economic enterprises and the civil rights movement in the U.S. This topic is also the subject of her forthcoming book, Collective Courage: A History of African-American Cooperative Economic Thought and Practice, which looks at the importance of cooperatives as a strategy for African-American economic, social, and political development.
