Professor Martin Horn Speaks Out on Criminal Justice and Correctional Issues

Professor Martin Horn, a Distinguished Lecturer in the Department of Law, Police Science and Criminal Justice Administration has made several recent appearances in the media in which he addressed pressing issues in criminal justice and corrections.

On June 2, Horn was quoted in an article on ABCNews.com focusing a New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s new task force to examine and overhaul how the city's correctional system deals with the mentally ill. Click here to read the full article.

On June 4, Horn was quoted in an article on the Web site NJ.com, discussing the finding that New Jersey inmates serve maximum sentences at twice the national rate. Click here to read the full article.

In an article that appeared June 5 on buzzfeed.com, Horn was interviewed as one of several former prison officials challenging a Virginia state policy that automatically places death-row inmates in solitary confinement. Horn, a former New York City Correction Commissioner, serves as Executive Director of the New York State Sentencing Commission. Horn is also a Managing Director of KeyPoint Government Solutions Inc. His career also includes appointments as the Pennsylvania state Secretary of Correction, as Executive Director of the New York State Division of Parole, and as Superintendent of Hudson Correctional Facility.
