Longtime Bloomberg Aide Katherine Oliver Joins John Jay Foundation Board

John Jay College of Criminal Justice has announced the appointment of Katherine Oliver to the John Jay College Foundation Board of Trustees. Oliver brings to the board stellar credentials in government, the private sector and nonprofit organizations.

Currently Principal, Media and Digital Strategies, with Bloomberg Associates, Oliver served as Commissioner of the New York Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment from 2002-2013. Under her leadership, the city’s film and television industry experienced its strongest growth ever, with more than 300 feature films and 100 TV shows being shot each year in New York, and more than a quarter-million people employed in the tech industry. She oversaw the Made in NY marketing and branding program, instituted the film industry’s first and only municipal-based tax credit, initiated a program to train minorities for work in film and TV production, and appointed the city’s first Chief Digital Officer. Oliver, who holds both B.A. and Executive M.B.A. degrees from New York University, was the General Manager of Bloomberg Radio & Television prior to joining the Bloomberg Administration.
