President Jeremy Travis and Professor Preeti Chauhan to Present Findings on Misdemeanor Arrests in New York City at the Citizens Crime Commission

NEW YORK - John Jay College of Criminal Justice President Jeremy Travis and Assistant Professor of Psychology Preeti Chauhan, will present key findings from their study of misdemeanor arrests in New York City (and to a lesser extent, the rest of the state) over the past 30 years, at a Citizens Crime Commission of New York breakfast forum on Tuesday, October 28.

Misdemeanor arrests have been a much-discussed component of the NYPD's criminal justice policy for decades.

President Travis and Professor Chauhan will explore and compare trends in the enforcement of misdemeanor arrests from 1980 to 2013. These trends will help frame the ongoing discussion about policing as we enter a new era where low crime rates are the norm.
