Professor Alexa Capeloto’s Article on Freedom of Information Act Software Published in The Columbia Journalism Review

Professor Alexa Capeloto of the Department of English had her article on open-source Freedom of Information Act software published in The Columbia Journalism Review. She writes that the RecordTrac, a web application that makes it easier to submit public-information requests, is “drawing notice for its potential to help government agencies process, track, and release requested information through a public online portal—creating a new level of transparency for governments willing to embrace it.”

Capeloto is an assistant professor who teaches journalism and co-coordinates the college’s Journalism Minor. She is also faculty adviser for the student newspaper, The John Jay Sentinel. She has worked as a reporter and editor at The Detroit Free Press and The San Diego Union-Tribune.
