Professor Greg Donaldson Discusses NYPD Vertical Patrols in Daily News Op-Ed and his Literary Father in the NY Times

Professor Greg Donaldson of the Department of Communication & Theatre Arts had his op-ed article “Fear of a Black Stairwell” published in the New York Daily News on Dec. 1.

In the commentary, which is informed by Donaldson’s experience as a journalist working alongside New York City housing police, he discusses the practice of patrolling housing project stairwells with guns drawn, and how that practice may have contributed to the fatal police shooting of Akai Gurley last month.
