Op-Ed Co-Authored by President Jeremy Travis About Modern Justice Issues is Published in the Boston Globe

An Op-ed piece titled “Protests Shine Light on Deeper Issues with Modern Justice” was published in the Boston Globe online on December 17, 2014, and in the print edition on Sunday. The article discusses the connections between the protests following Ferguson and Staten Island and the realities of mass incarceration. The op-ed was co-authored by Jeremy Travis, President of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York, and Bruce Western, Professor of Sociology and Director of the Malcolm Wiener Center for Social Policy at Harvard Kennedy School. They served as chair and vice chair, respectively, of the National Research Council’s Committee on the Causes and Consequences of High Rates of Incarceration in the United States.
