Pease, Allison

Professor and interim Dean of Undergraduate Studies

Dr. Pease is interim Dean of Undergraduate Studies
. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in English Literature from New York University and specializes in nineteenth and twentieth-century British literature and culture, gender and sexuality, and aesthetic theory. She is the author of Modernism, Mass Culture, and the Aesthetics of Obscenity (Cambridge University Press, 2000) and Modernism, Feminism, and the Culture of Boredom (Cambridge University Press, 2012). In addition, her work has appeared in a number of venues, including Modernism/Modernity, English Literature in TransitionVictorian Poetry, Criticism, Journal of Gender Studies, Nineteenth-Century Literature, and Palgrave Advances in Oscar Wilde. For seven years she served as an editor of the journal Victorian Literature and Culture.  In addition to late Victorian and modernist literature, she is happy to work with students on African and Indian post-colonial literatures and modern Japanese literature and culture.
