Sandra Swenson, a lecturer in the Department of Sciences, earned her doctorate in Science Education at Columbia University Teachers College where she worked closely with researchers at Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory on students’ cognitive abilities and best pedagogical practices for using scientific data visualizations in the classroom.  Area of interest is in student learning and effective pedagogical practice for using data in the science lecture and laboratory environment. Future research will be targeted in intervention studies and curriculum design.
